America: 2011 and Beyond

Uranus is always correlated with technology, it is interesting that the Arab Spring’s revolutions were enabled by the variety of new social media.  The same can certainly be said of borderline radical groups in the U.S.  But more than that, Uranus’ ingress into Aries has seen the dream of cyber war start to become a geopolitical reality.  Wikileaks was only the beginning.

Picture of USA Flag with logos replacing the stars

The great nations are currently stumbling over themselves to figure out how to defend themselves both from foreign powers and non-state groups such as Anonymous and Wikileaks.  Corporations, the non-geographical nations of our day, are also working hard on the same.  This conflict between state/corporate powers  and independent, technologically empowered people will occur primrarily during Pluto-Uranus squares (2012-15).  The likely result will be increased attempts to police the internet, and amplified resistance to the same.  This tension will give birth to a slowly escalating cyber arms race as the internets infinite fields enter the world of geopolitical importance.   William Gibson, here we come.

The writing on the wall…

The upward transfer of wealth and growing inequality between global elites and ordinary citizens has become untenable for people whose outrage at the injustice of the system is mounting. And the year 2011 has borne witness to many acts of public dissent from protests in the United Kingdom (UK), to sit-ins in Spain, to violent demonstrations in Greece, to the consolidation of a revolution in Iceland and now, the Occupy Wall Street encampment threatening to mobilise a global movement of people against corporate greed and economic inequality.

A night to remember

A coronal mass ejection (CME) hit Earth’s magnetic field around noon Universal Time on Sept. 26th. The impact set the stage for a night to remember. As soon as darkness fell over Scandinavia, auroras filled the sky with such intensity that they were visible through rain clouds. Fredrik Broms photographed the scene from Kvaløya, Norway:

Oops, there goes reality.

Looks like Einstein may have been wrong — An international team of scientists at CERN has recorded neutrino particles travelling faster than the speed of light.

All the details on

http://io9.com/5842947/scientific-breakthrough-physicists-at-cern-have-recorded-particles-moving-faster-than-light

The official word from CERN

The OPERA result is based on the observation of over 15000 neutrino events measured at Gran Sasso, and appears to indicate that the neutrinos travel at a velocity 20 parts per million above the speed of light, nature’s cosmic speed limit. Given the potential far-reaching consequences of such a result, independent measurements are needed before the effect can either be refuted or firmly established. This is why the OPERA collaboration has decided to open the result to broader scrutiny.

Kepler Discovers a Planet with Two Suns

The existence of a world with a double sunset, as portrayed in the film Star Wars more than 30 years ago, is now scientific fact. NASA’s Kepler mission has made the first unambiguous detection of a circumbinary planet — a planet orbiting two stars — 200 light-years from Earth.

An artist's concept of Kepler-16b

Unlike Star Wars’ Tatooine, the planet is cold, gaseous and not thought to harbor life, but its discovery demonstrates the diversity of planets in our galaxy. Previous research has hinted at the existence of circumbinary planets, but clear confirmation proved elusive. Kepler detected such a planet, known as Kepler-16b, by observing transits, where the brightness of a parent star dims from the planet crossing in front of it.

Incoming CME

Yesterday, Sept. 14th, an eruption near sunspot 1289 hurled a CME ( Coronal mass ejection) in the general direction of Earth. Analysts at the Goddard Space Weather Lab expect the cloud to deliver a ‘glancing blow’ to our planet’s magnetic field on Sept 17th around 04:30 UT. High-latitude magnetic storms are possible when the CME arrives.

New Supernova Remnant Lights Up

Using the Hubble Space Telescope, astronomers are witnessing the unprecedented transition of a supernova to a supernova remnant, where light from an exploding star in a neighboring galaxy, the Large Magellanic Cloud, reached Earth in February 1987. Named Supernova 1987A, it was the closest supernova explosion witnessed in almost 400 years. The supernova’s close proximity to Earth allows astronomers to study it in detail as it evolves. Now, the supernova debris, which has faded over the years, is brightening. This means that a different power source has begun to light the debris. The debris of SN 1987A is beginning to impact the surrounding ring, creating powerful shock waves that generate X-rays observed with NASA’s Chandra X-ray Observatory. Those X-rays are illuminating the supernova debris and shock heating is making it glow in visible light. Since its launch in 1990, the Hubble telescope has provided a continuous record of the changes in SN 1987A.

Going supernova…..

What is being called ‘the supernova of a generation’ is happening right now for us on earth.

The supernova, which is essentially an exploding star, has been named PTF 11kly. And even though it exploded in the Big Dipper, 21 million light-years away in the Pinwheel Galaxy, you might just get to see it over the next few weeks.

Pissed Off People vs The Evil Empire

This dance will be reflected through the prism of culture as the “Pissed Off People vs. The Evil Empire.”  The next several years hold a series of intense clashes that will play out between an angry populace and desperate systems of control.  It’ll look like more revolutions in the Middle East, and perhaps elsewhere.  It’ll look like riots, protests and disorder in the house-broken West.  It’ll look like rogue hackers attacking big corporations.  It’ll also look like regimes cracking down on the populace, States passing more draconian decrees in response to public disorder, and governments and corporations pushing to police the internet in response to hacker action.  It’s aggressively idealistic chaos vs. brutally realistic order.   Welcome to the next several years.

Lunar Eclipse 26 June 2010

The lunar eclipse at 4° + Capricorn conjoins Pluto and activates a grand cross involving the Sun, Mercury, Jupiter, Uranus, the Moon, and Saturn – all within 5° of the four cardinal points. This will be a very important event, for better or worse, with a huge impact on global public opinion.

Mountain Astrologer

So this is what it feels likes when the big boys come out to play.  Mom and Dad (Jupiter&Saturn) Pluto and the revolution (Uranus) – all archetypes we understand as they are woven into our experience of individuality.

The grand cross alignment indicates a re-negotiation between these structural forces effecting  the manor in which we get to process  our selves.

The involvement of the sun, moon and the mercurial aspects of thought in the double opposition square + presents a opportunity for direct personal participation with these sacred beings.

Dance wisely and avoid personal or group ideologies which are past their sell by dates. Spend some time in, and with, nature, She is sure to be embracing the changes.
